Sandusky Cabinets announces today that its products have earned GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification issued by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. This means that Sandusky's products are certified to be low-emitting materials that lead to better air quality indoors.
GREENGUARD Certification is broadly recognized and accepted by a number of “green” building programs, including the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED® green building rating system.
The not-for-profit GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) establishes product emissions standards to help reduce people’s exposure to potentially harmful chemicals. Products that achieve GREENGUARD Certification have met these rigorous standards and help create healthier indoor environments.
With children and adults spending nearly 90% of their time indoors – where pollutant levels can be two to five times higher than outdoor air – achieving good indoor air quality (IAQ) has become a concern for many schools, homes and work environments. Elevated levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can cause short- and long-term health issues ranging from triggering asthma and allergy attacks to neurological and respiratory disease. GREENGUARD Certified products show significant reduction in both the individual chemicals emitting from the products as well as the overall levels of chemicals being released.
Sandusky Cabinets prides itself on its commitment to create low-emitting products that improve the air quality in schools, homes and places of work in addition to its commitment to reducing energy consumption. Furthermore, Sandusky continues to increase its use of recycled content (to over 70%) in our products to provide help minimize our footprint on the environment.
